A second after the key turns, the singing begins again. Once the alarm does go off and my morning routines are complete, I jump in my car to head to work. I might appreciate the sentiment more if the admonitions didn’t start at the faintest hints of dawn light, long before my alarm goes off. Nothing makes a person madder than being told to cheer up when they don’t want to, and yet the robin outside my window has been shouting at me to CHEER UP for weeks. The more things change and appear to be changing, the more they stay the same.CABLE - Cheerily, cheer up, cheer up, cheerily, CHEER UP! It’s possible that we have made mistakes at times. The little ones are adorable and play double-dutch on the cement. It holds a special place inside my heart. The more we see things appear to be changing and evolving but the more they stay the same. Maybe, in some instances we’ve made a mistake, but that’s okay. The stress of my new job with the stunning outdoor weather and the newly-built nests of birds on my windowsill brought out this idea that’s been in my head since the start of this transformation: “The more things appear to be changing but the more they stay exactly the same.” So Sweet Little Bird, Little Bird, Little Bird They Said I was thinking about the fact that my new position was more difficult than previous positions I’ve held, and how I was accustomed to a structured setting. I was writing this piece during a brief moment of inspiration. As things evolve but the more they remain the same. Even when we do make a mistake, it’s not a problem. As many other people I’m worried regarding the near future… Summer Came Like Cinnamon As I reflect on that day in the summer and listen to their voices soothes me. The birds sang each other for around five minutes before flying away. One was brown, and the other was a gorgeous gray with white flecks on its wings and beak. In the summer of 2022 there were three tiny birds that sat on my balcony. As much as things appear to be changing and evolving however, they are largely the same. Maybe, in the past we’ve made mistakes, but it’s not a problem. The little ones were adorable, they were playing double-dutch with the cement. Three birds were perched on the window and told me to not be afraid. ![]()
